EMEA HUG Users Group Overview OCT 2011

This was an exciting Users’ group where customers revealed that globalization is affecting Europe – the European Union’s role of being the manufacturing base for the region is shifting to China and Asia while Eastern Europe and the Middle East are emerging as the energy supplier for the region. This transition puts increased pressure on Europe to maintain competitiveness and leadership. Common challenges and trends that emerged during the conference were – Conference Highlights

Emerson Global User Exchange OCT 2011

This years’ event was held at the Gaylord Hotel and convention center in Nashville, TN and attended by approximately 2,800 folks. The buzz this year was led by the CHARMS I/O, SIS CHARMS (in Version 12) virtualization (in Version 12), DetlaV simulate – stand alone…on a USB stick, USB management of all of all ports on all boxes on the network, the use of temporary licenses for start-up and commissioning, and advanced alarm management (V13 or V14).
Emerson really touted their emphasis on implementing user centered design into their products at the platform level. We attended quite a few break-out sessions that employed this as a consistent theme. Emerson also chairs a consortium (similar to ASM) called COP – Center of Operator Performance… some interesting ideas coming from this group.
The workshops and break-out sessions were split were between product/service update, control system modernization, business intelligence, optimization, and all off the ‘Pig-Iron’ stuff….btw, the Demo floor looks like a scaled down ISA show, so it is good to put your hands on a lot of different instrumentation that are installed in the industry.

Lin & Associates is proud to announce the most anticipated release of the Advanced Graphic Package. The focus of the AGP V4.0 is to provide operators with an effective tool, that is not only intuitive and user-friendly, but will also gives them a greater opportunity for success in plant operations. Coupled with abnormal situation awareness and human factors the qualitative viewing option within each shape has changed the standard approach to high performance HMI. Honeywell Industrial Solutions provider JUL 2011

Lin and Associates is expanding our system integrator and solution provider capabilities and has become a Honeywell Industrial Solution Provider. As a Honeywell Industrial Solution Provider, we have now added Honeywell Modular Control Solutions to our portfolio that includes Experion HS, Experion LS, HC900, and MasterLogics. Lin & Associates is deligantly working on preparing a graphic package to run the Experion LS/HS offerings.

Honeywell Users Group Americas Jun 2011

This year’s Users Group was a big success! Our host, Honeywell, all of the speakers and trainers, as well as the many product demonstrators all made this past week exciting and enjoyable. With attendance well above last year, Lin & Associates found equal success at our demo booth. Armed with our newly designed Advanced Graphic Package, developed for Experion® R400, the Lin & Associates booth was constantly filled with curious customers. Many of them returning with friends & co-workers to share in the excitement. We received great positive feedback and welcomed the suggestions that were shared with us, as well.

Master Service Agreement with ConocoPhillips Feb 2011

Lin & Associates is excited about further strengthening our relationship with ConocoPhillips and its many wonderful people. Lin & Associates LoopWatch V1.0 released Jan 2011

Lin & Associates is proud to announce the successful testing and implementation of a new product, LoopWatch. The L&A LoopWatch Monitor helps an operator monitor critical process variables without having to build a unique graphic or group. The tool collects desired process values and uses statistical analysis to predict if a value will exceed an operator-specified envelop within a defined period of time. LoopWatch can work with displays developed using the L&A Advanced Graphics Package or with other standards and is fully compatible with the Honeywell Experion® PKS system.
